traveling East-West in Manhattan
Apr. 24th, 2010 09:13 amGoing North-South seems to be easy in Manhattan: just take the subway! But how do people travel East-West?
I'd like to see a density plot of pedestrian direction, plotted on a circle. (Optionally: do the same for driving, cabbing, busing, cycling, subway-riding). I think I know somebody who could produce this very easily.

Date: 2010-04-24 07:13 pm (UTC)I like the busway idea; apparently it originally came from Curitiba, Brazil.
The figure of ~1500 private vehicle + ~4000 bus riders + ~8000 pedestrians sounds plausible (and big enough for small city!), but I wonder how they are counting people who are indoors, in buildings that have entrances from multiple streets, etc.
P.S. how did you find my journal, Mr. DamnitJim?
