people, please do not write me messages on Facebook... unless you really can't do email.

If you needed an excuse to take up the ancient practice of writing emails, how about this: Facebook failed to notify me twice in the last month.

(As for myself, I feel viscerally about being locked into a proprietary standard, especially one that doesn't support archiving or linking)

it fails to notify me a lot, too -- both messages and comments. annoying. i guess they just expect you to log in and look at your inbox on the site.

My FB Inbox invariably has more invitations than messages, and they don't support filtering.

I like your icon!

I have yet to "miss" a Facebook notification. But then again, I've been using http://www.facebook.com/notifier since beta

Some of us are not interested in _increasing_ the amount of Facebook crap we use, thanks :-P

The URL http://www.facebook.com/notifier is about an app you download for the Mac.

I want to get an email when someone writes me a private message, and use filters to them separate them from less private invitations (problems that have been solved effectively by that ancient technology known as email!)
