The multitouch means that you can do a stroke on the touchpad with one, two, three, or four fingers with different effects. One is moving the mouse, two functions as a scroll button, three jumps to top and bottom of page, four displays all open windows or exposes the desktop. Ctrl-click functions as right-click.
It's really quite natural to scroll with two fingers. Also, can you scroll with the bottom (or top) of the touchpad? I find myself terribly limited with a mouse by not being able to scroll horizontally.
Man, I HATE that right-side-of-the-touchpad thing. I guess when it's your touchpad you get used to what's where, but as an occasional user it's very frustrating. I like Apple's two-finger scrolling a lot more.
Though the touch pad and its gestures are all lovely, I am accustomed to the two button mouse so I have a wireless mouse that takes up one of my USB ports. It is not necessarily super convenient for travel, but I like it most of the time. I use rechargeable batteries in it.

I like having a scroll button.
