Seymour Papert, Roger Schank, etc
Apr. 16th, 2004 04:14 pmI've known about Seymour Papert for a long time. I should read more about Roger Schank.

Roger Schank
Date: 2004-04-16 10:53 am (UTC)I was impressed (although a little personally-deflated) to find that he had an idea that I had, of building driving simulations for educational purposes. Basically mount a video camera on the hood of your car, and then go around recording all the paths through the city. Then let students train themselves in a choose-your-own-adventure way without wasting gas and familiarize themselves with a route, or just explore. He actually implemented this on a small scale.
My idea was to do one run at night, and one run during the day...that way you could practice your trips during both different "looking" environments. We're definitely on the way with things like VR Seattle. The club I go to on Saturdays is even on there...get a good look at the cracks on the ceiling! ;)
(web search reveals Schank has a company called Cognitive Arts...hmmm...will have to look into that in more detail)
