I have an HP laptop, and it easily supports one extra monitor. I would like to add one more monitor, but there's no natural place to plug it in.

"Joining the Prestigious Three-Monitor Club" suggests using the Matrox TripleHead2Go, but it comes with a big caveat: Windows sees the 3 displays as one huge screen.

In order to deal with this, and to avoid the Large Display Paradox, I could use something like WinSplit or GridMove.

The other solution, SideCar, is way out of my price range.

MS Windows still isn't as sophisticated on the user end as X/Motif was already twenty years ago. For example, you can't get mouse focus in a window without bringing it to front. You also can't configure default/min/max window sizes for different apps, etc.

I use a USB VGA adapter for this sort of thing. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3484434&CatId=467

Very handy little device...
