World Cup Final at Tewksbury: tense game. Happy end.

From there I went to my office, to try to complete my registration for ESSLLI2002, but the building was closed.
So I went home instead, and tried to figure out how to fax them later.
More problems: I ran out of ink on my printer, so I called around and went to Staples Fresh Pond, just to print the damn thing. I get back home and print it.
Then I biked to Kinko's in Harvard Sq, to fax my credit card receipt to Italy.

By this time, I had seen quite a few Brazil supporters. I was reminded of how in '94 we raided Trafalgar Square to celebrate. Everything was a lot crazier back then. The World Cup was a huge deal (expect a post on one of my most blatant irrationalities: being a soccer fan, as well as a discussion on the lack of scholarship about soccer)

So I decided to check out Boston. On my way there, I saw a Colombian singer, Marta Gómez, singing some sambas / bossas with her band. It was great music.

At around Central Square, I saw Mark Bandstra, after two years. Mark was one of the two Harvard people I knew before coming here. There was a good chance I would run into him at least once this year. We research-interned side-by-side at Bell Labs's department of "Mathematics of Communications". He's apparently shifted to the Physics side of things now. He remembered my surname and even pronounced it correctly.

So I checked out Faneuil Hall, saw the amazing Gazzo, the most offensive street performer ever.
Then I saw a St Jude Thaddeus parade and I thought it was a Brazil Champions parade. A Berklee saxophonist who plays at H-Sq was playing with them.

I finally made it to the jam at Murray's. Lisa took some great pictures. You can see one of me here.

Then I get this crazy email from these mysterious guys at http://www.eternalambition.com/ . Crazy.

Feels like a crazy day. Absolutely.

Nice pic of you.
I enjoyed the final. Brazil was the better team, they kept going long after the Germans were too tired.
