Ubuntu installed

Ok. Ubuntu has been installed. The installer seemed flaky: in some tries, it didn't offer the option "Guided - resize the partition and use the freed space"... reboot from CD, try again... and then it worked.

Once it said it was done, I told it to restart the machine so I could boot to my new system... which it didn't seem to do completely (all I know is the screen was black, and except for the power light, the machine looked like it was off). After about 10 minutes, I turned off the machine, and tried to boot from Windows, worriedly... after an eternal-seeming 10 minutes of disk check, I was able to boot and verified that I could still boot to Windows.

But, as I had feared, the Ubuntu installation broke the F11 Recovery functionality. OTOH, my boot screen now shows two Windows boot options.
* The normal one, from which I'm writing this, is called "XP Professional" (in reality, it's Tablet Edition).
* The second one, called "Windows NT/2000/XP", leads to another boot menu, in which the second option is Recovery; I booted to it once, and it seems fine. The first option of the second menu is again normal Windows.

If it turns out I lost the ability to boot to the Recovery Partition, I will try to restore the MBR... not sure if it's worth doing at this point. Surely, HP should be able to send me a DVD!
