After a month of complaining, Jacques got me an account at the university. So now I have a new web space.

I'm typing from the lab. Perhaps surprisingly, the machines here are quite good, running Win2000 quite comfortably. I'm going to use Powerpoint a lot in the next couple of weeks to give my seminar on non-monotonic logic. That was the excuse for getting me an account.

Hello :) I came to your journal by clicking on douglas hofstadter. I can hardly restrain myself from giving you an enormous mental hug because you have edge.org further down your page.

My mind warmly accepts your hugging. It would like to return the hug, but it has no arms.

Btw, we have lived in some of the same places: Brazil, London, Boston.

Do you use IM?

I do not use IM, but I'm happily reading your LJ :)

What brought you to London and Boston? I went to university in London, and am moving to Boston this fall for grad school (Fletcher). Brasilia was rather short, I was 4 or 5 at the time. Still remember the mangoes though... and feijoada.

Tufts, eh? I almost went there this year (January) for grad school. But they sucked financially; and the CS department was also too small/uninteresting to me. So after getting my visa documents and all, I boldly returned them in person.

My dad's office moved to London in 1994. I stayed until '97.

I choose to move to Boston after college graduation because it was a cool place. And it was. In fact, that's why I wanted to go to Tufts after I left my job. But that brings me back to the beginning.

:) Bold is best.

We may have walked by each other on Tott Ct Rd. I was in London from 1995-99.

How do you spend most of your time nowadays?

Why Tott Ct Rd? I used spend a lot of time at Kensington Gardens / Hyde Park, as well as Whiteley's and Piccadilly Circus / Leicester Sq.

Right now I'm taking a couple of graduate CS classes.
