bleg: buying flexible tickets

I should have my passport back from the Canadians before the time comes for me to fly to Finland, but just in case, I probably want my tickets to be flexible. Do any of the usual travel sites (Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia, CheapTickets, etc.) have flexible tickets? Do they cost more than the usual?

ugh, only for very expensive iirc. and you may have to go directly through the airline, not through one of the discount sites.

A refundable fare on a major carrier is typically about 4x the cheapy price. The """discount""" airlines are known as such because they only charge 2x the cheap price. In other words, it'd be cheaper just to not show up, than to get a refundable fare.

You can, however, get ticket insurance for something like 1% or 10% the price of the ticket. Check with the airline.

As other commentors have said, it's probably cheaper to pay a change fee if necessary than to actually buy a flexible ticket.
