I have lots of vacation days to spare. I'd like to travel around America and stay with friends (IRL or virtual) sometime in June.

Trip #1: probably going to New York in early June.

Trip #2: one of Boston, Seattle, SF Bay Area, other (Austin? San Diego?).

I am biased towards enthusiastic invitations, places where I can meet multiple people, and decent public transportation.

(The ideal trip would last 4 or 5 days. Couches are ok.)

I will NOT be in the bay area for basically the whole summer. I will however probably be near Philly intermittently in June and could possibly make a day trip up to New York depending on when you're there.

Have you seen DC?

yes. Thanks, but DC doesn't interest me. I may be there for Cogsci anyway.

do you have crash space in DC? This would come in *really* handy during Cogsci...

if everything goes according to plan (ie, nothing falls through), then yes.

I should have a futon or couch by then, too.

The potential place is a little ways from the metro, but it could work out ...

how long of a commute would it be from: 2500 Calvert Street NW (at Connecticut Ave.)?

dunno, i rarely go downtown.

Trip planner! Try to Vienna station, end of orange line. That may well become my metro stop.

12 min? Not so bad!

I was worried this was in Vienna, VA.

Yes, it is in Vienna, VA. The DC metro area is tiny.... and has a well regulated metro system....

at least for getting into the city.

Excellent! I'm probably all set, but I will keep this option open, if you don't mind.

not in the least! would be cool to see you while you're here, either way.

You're always welcome in Boston. This time, we'll make sure the inflatable bed is properly inflated indeed (we have the big well-tested bed that was at Lauren's).

Note that I'm leaving for Poland on June 26 or so.

Have a nice trip, wherever you go!

Thanks! What's in Poland? Any chance you'd want to visit Helsinki, or maybe Estonia?
