housing in Pittsburgh

I arrive in Pittsburgh this Monday morning, 14th of August. It will be my first time through Texas:

I will have about 2 weeks to find a new place, sign a lease and move in. I wish I had had more time for finding housemates.

Do you know anyone else looking? Here's my ad. (Am I in violation of the FHA?)

Btw, do I get to pick my CMU login(s)?

Given the uncertainty of the housemate situation, I may want another temporary place. What sucks, though, is that I'd be stuck looking for rents in the small off-season market.

Only through my personal contacts can I get hooked up with the cool geek pool, rather than the pool of random craigslisters.

No. But if you want, you can get an @cmu.edu email address (in addition to the yourlogin@andrew.cmu.edu one) that is any id you want, so long as it's not taken and not someone else's andrew id.


Good luck finding something within a 30 min walk of CMU with 2 separate rooms + private bath for under $500.

The bathroom doesn't need to be private. I just need some redundancy... although I'm reconsidering that, since this wasn't a problem in Amsterdam.

The "office space" doesn't have to be a room. It can be a "corner".

I think especially bathroom redundancy is not something you're likely to find, but then again, I have almost never had problems competing for the bathroom, since I easily have fallen into a different schedule from my housemates.

Remember that, accounting for other factors, the problem of intersecting shower times is at least linear in the length of the other persons shower.
