is that LiveJournal doesn't have a field for the name or email address of anonymous commenters. Thus I can never find them, and they probably won't remember to look at that thread again.

Another thing is that I would like to be notified about comments in interesting threads which are not mine. As it is, LJ does not allow this. When did they stop being responsive to our simple suggestions?

1) What's the advantage of an extra field for someone to type in free text? You already have two. We don't want people thinking the email addresses anonymous commenters are entering are valid.

2) It's been discussed and planned, but we're trying to finish existing things / improve performance / improve paid accounts before adding random new features. (For example, that new site look has just been sitting around for months now.)

(In general, I refuse to argue with people talking about LJ stuff; it's not really my decision in general and nobody understands the issues well enough to make informed commentary. But given how much time and effort we put into it, it stings a bit whenever someone makes a comment to the effect of "those people are idiots" or "those people don't care", both because they are both untrue and because it makes LJ faceless. It's just me and Brad and Brad making changes to the code, and we're doing our best.)

I certainly appreciate the effort you guys make, and never did I talk shit about the people behind it. However, I think my comments make sense, and if you disagree you're invited to argue your side.

Is there really nobody else volunteering to help?

That way, non-LJ users don't forget to make themselves reachable. Many blogs have this.

The new site look is frustrating, especially after all the time it took me to learn the other one. On my side of things, it's been a while since I've seen an improvement to LJ. Customizability is the ideal solution. Let me choose which look I want, let me choose what the interface looks like for my readers/commenters.

The post that announced it, which is also on the front page, includes a link on how to switch back to the old one.

Many blogs support this. The advantage is that this way they probably won't forget to make themselves available for contact.

Is there a schedule for this? If my impression is correct, it's been a long time since anything got better on LJ.
I miss the old look. It took me a while to get used to the original menu, and now it's all different.
