That's pretty awful, though... perhaps transliteration/respelling is preferable in some cases :)

Does 'feliz' really mean the same thing as 'happy'? Does it have the same connotations of excitement and fun, or is a more of a contentment idea?

Perhaps not quite as much excitement as "happy", but close. We have the word "alegre" which means "joyful", "lively" or "gay". But it sound odd to buy a "joyful meal".
To mean "content", we often use the word "contente".

I see. Actually, even in Englaish, a "happy meal" always seemed like a strange idea to me. Seems like there's some basic confusion between agent and patiend going on somewhere there.
