I had some trouble with Firefox, I had to reload 4 times before anything showed up. I'm not sure if the problem was on my side or yours, but I've never seen this error before. It showed up first time in IE.
I should tell you that it only works for a fragment of C++. It was an exercise on how to store variable/value tables, how to create new namespaces for variables, how to implement call by value/reference, etc. It was also not 100% successful, as I was a beginner at Scheme, and just beginning to adapt to the ways of functional programming.
I'm just getting started programming in Ruby (after 10 years of things like Visual Basic), and it's shaking up my mental landscape in very entertaining ways.
I first clicked "Back button" to make sure I can still return to my normal web environment. Just kidding.
Uh... student hosting? No wonder I just get "" about 75% of the time I visit your site.
How about a free promotional hosting package from VivHost, with domain mgmt. interface, spamfree webmail and over 20 web applications available directly on your domains? It's an 8.95 value, ACT NOW! :)
On the site design, I think it's too wide for the content, has too much spacing, you should pack it more vertically, make it more compact (and less like it's designed for half-blind orphans who can't find the train station. or something). Make it flow, bro'!

Thanks! I recently renewed my contract with buydomains.com (domain management, but no web hosting) ... and migrating my email forwards and AutoReply's would take some work... so I think that at least the email part is better left with them (unless it's easy to migrate all that).
But I'll gladly accept the web hosting. Is there a way to have my website work in a non-forwarding way, while still leaving email management to buydomains.com? One thing I don't like about not having an integrated webhost+domainhost is that http://www.optimizelife.com/page.php forwards to http://www.science.uva.nl/~glacerda/page.php
The page content when that problem happens is just empty BODY and HTML tags.
You'll be fine with the new hosting. I'll create the domain space for you and send you the mgmt. info. You can host mail on buydomains separately, that's not a problem, but you can also switch it easily and re-create your autoreply's and autoforwards.
The page content when that problem happens is just empty BODY and HTML tags. what could be causing this? I'm taking this as good news, because it means I would get more visitors if the content were up all the time.

You have no idea how many of them I have. Yes, I could do it, but it would take about an hour of boring work.
The first thing I want to click is the photo, probably because it's colorful and the fact that it shows you looking off the right of the page makes my eyes follow to see what you're looking at, but there's nothing over there and the photo doesn't look clickable
after that i just read stuff, not sure where my eyes went exactly

Date: 2005-09-20 03:05 am (UTC)It says there: "A C++ interpreter in Scheme, 1999." That's surprising -- did you mean a Scheme interpreter written in C++?

Date: 2005-09-20 01:33 pm (UTC)Is there an "objective" way of testing my host's reliability?
(no subject)
Date: 2005-09-20 01:38 pm (UTC)The things I look for in host reliability are:
- connectivity speed
- apache response time
- OS/apache security patches (to prevent DDOS)
- application availability
- general uptime
Of course, things like flexibility in adding modules, management options and such are also helpful.
