Mediawiki accessing external files

As part of improving my data management, I would like to have read-access to my server files from my MediaWiki (via ssh/scp/ftp)... so that after running an experiment, I can view the results online. Could I do this as a transclusion?

As an extra bonus, the wiki URL would be translated into a directory on the server.

Do you want to import the files into mediawiki, or just refer to their location on the other server?
