When your body needs to regenerate tissue, it starts cell division, which will produce cells with shorter telomeres, which will be more likely to produce uncorrected mutations, which cause cancer.

Are people who've suffered lots of cuts throughout life more susceptible to skin cancer? I've heard that skin cancer often forms in scar tissue.

Compared to just normal cycling through skin cells, it seems unlikely that there'd be detectable increase in replication due to cuts (unless you really tried hard).
