I feel dirty saying this, but I identify more with the Martian pattern in Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus than I identify with any other character or description of a person anywhere. I'm not sure if I can recommend the book in good conscience, but it definitely helped me crystalize my beliefs about myself.

Would you recommend You Just Don't Understand?

I haven't read it all. But what I've read has been very interesting.

I didn't mean the martian pattern was dirty, but rather the book. The author does note at the beginning that the martian and venusian patterns are just stereotypes, so they should not be the assumed behavior of any individual you meet, but the rest of the book is not so careful about it and only emphasizes the differences between the genders. The politically correct thing to do is to emphasize the similarities between the genders.
