I've just created my own HTML generator, for my website.

I've been procrastinating / forgetting to do this for years. With Perl, being rusty, I got it working in less than two hours. ... I had forgotten the joy of making things that work.

Here's a sample output:

I created a primitive meta-HTML format called GML (guess what it means!)

GML originally stands for "Generalized Markup Language". It was an early precursor to modern-day HTML.

You asked ;).

In any case, that is pretty much how MarkDown and Textile work as well. If you ever find your own GML too limited, they're worth a try.
