Today, I woke up feeling much better. Now, I'm barely limping, and I can probably bike to the Cantab. I am very amused with the results of this world cup so far. Jeez... half of the quarter-finalists have absolutely no soccer tradition (USA, Senegal, Korea, Turkey)! And one of Senegal and Turkey is going to the semi-final... very interesting.
Anyway, I created a spreadsheet for the betting market's estimate of probabilities given odds (i.e. pay-offs) for each outcome. These can be checked at oddschecker.com, a great site for the professional gambler. While being skeptical of my own impressions, I think I could make money reliably (perhaps a 5% or 10% return per game) if I gambled on International soccer games.
