After missing Spain x Ireland this morning, I looked up some banjo rolls on the Net. So I tuned my guitar like a banjo, and played to some tablature. I managed to play at a decent speed. Maybe one day, I'll convince Greg (the fastest banjoist I know) to play guitar, and we'll see how it works with other instruments.

Played soccer at MIT. I'm very out-of-shape. I was puffing after only a couple of minutes. This doesn't seem to affect my play, however.
It started raining heavily, but we kept playing. I hurt my knee/thigh. I don't know how, but I can be blamed for not stretching.

Went to the Student Center to get some shelter.
I saw these people playing Go, so I sat down and observed some. Then they played with me. It was cool. I've always appreciated geeky friendliness.

Somebody there said that there is no AI that could reliably beat an advanced beginner at Go. This is very interesting from an AI / cogsci perspective. It means we have an intuition about the game which we haven't been able to write down. I find it bizarre. By the way, one of the kids there looked like he could be Erik Demaine (MIT's youngest professor).

Sara always brings interesting men to the house. I just met Isaac, who spent 2 years backpacking in Europe. He has a different perspective (e.g. Dutch people are open-minded; one can tell Hungarian women by their breasts; etc.), and is quite outspoken. This tends to make entertaining people. We might sit down with map some time, and he'll recommend me places to go... if I go, that is.

Most of the relaxation is kicking in now, and I'm feeling sleepy.
