poll: libertarians' priorities
Feb. 21st, 2002 03:53 pmIn our way to an ideal state, which piece of evil would you end first? In your evaluation, consider the cost the item has on your pocket.
* corporate welfare (These corporations deserve your money)
* decency laws (I can't stand you doing that, therefore you should be stopped)
* immigration laws (you were not born here. So leave.)
* laws against guns (you don't have the right to protect yourself)
* laws regulating drug use, for recreation or medication (The FDA knows better than you)
* market regulations to pretending to prevent "savage capitalism" (anti-trust, anti-dumping, laws,etc.)
* labour laws (you can't "exploit" workers)
* professional licensing laws (you must have a degree in order to do that)
* publicly run services (mail, garbage, street-cleaning, etc.)
* red tape
* state-funded development projects
* unnecessary military action
* welfare for the poor
* zoning laws
other: what?
It would be interesting to see how much each of these costs compared to their alternative, both in cash and social value.
