soccer; MITHenge; meeting Sussman
Jan. 27th, 2002 08:37 pmToday I played soccer at MIT's fields, after a long long time. I ran out of breath very quickly, but stuck with it and did ok. Eventually, I got in the groove of the game, and it felt great. The Tao returned to me. I'll probably keep showing up on Sundays, or maybe I'll find a mailing list.
Then I went to see MIThenge with my Kodak DC4800, thanks to
scottsch's reminder.
There I met EE Prof. Gerald Sussman (who I had seen on Thursday, before a talk on Science&God by a "complex systems" specialist who was all shine and no stuff) ), who had worked out equations forecasting the event, along with his student Keith. They took me to their office to show me the formula they used, and it was written in Scheme!
I get on my bike, and ten minutes later I'm hanging out with hippies at Harvard Square, which I normally might have reservations about, but after playing 2 hours of soccer I get so relaxed that I just do what I want.
