My HD recovery with PhotoRec is taking a total of ~4.5 hours (estimated).
There will be more than 1 million txt files, which is of course many more than I had before the crash. I think this means I can, unless I have a smart way of indexing/searching them. The date may be useful.
UPDATE:
looking at the recovery folder in the external HD:
Total Size of Files: 9.0 GB
Size on Disk: 12.3GB
