Festival de cinema:

A couple of weeks ago, there was a national film festival here. There I saw Heloísa, who I had met in the T in Boston right after meeting [livejournal.com profile] neurogirl in person for the first time. It's remarkable that I recognized her: I only saw her once, more than two years ago.

Since my cousin is friends with one of the movie directors, we went to the post-festival party. An attractive, blond, familiar-looking girl comes in. After a while I go up to her and ask her where I've seen her before, if she did TV or something. It turns out she was Mariana Ximenes, a BIG BIG name in Brazil. She asked me if I was part of the festival, but conversation didn't get interesting and her friend interrupted, so I left. Juliano (Flávia's bf) thinks I should have tried to kiss her. He said it would have made every woman in Recife fall on my lap afterwards.

Last Saturday, I went to a jam at the university. It sucked. Nobody lives on campus, so it's very dead at nights and weekends. So I left so see Náutico play Palmeiras. I realized I was wearing a green shirt, so I changed it (thanks to the complete set that always stays in the car (which I decided to do after being turned away at a Yamandu concert) )

So I called Abu (aka Felipe), and found out he was going too. So I met him up there, next to the score. It was nice to watch the dynamics of the whole field live. Very different from TV.
It was a great game. We won "de virada", 2 x 1. Palmeiras is a big team recently relegated to a lower league, so they had low motivation. We had high motivation, since we were playing against them. I would bet that counted a lot. Crowd celebrations were very enthusiastic, especially in the second goal, when beer cups flew everywhere simultaneously.

For hours after the game, I felt happy and carefree. Much better than when Brazil won the Penta, when I simply felt weird (probably because it was over by 9am).

I often try to rationalize my emotions, and to try to control them according to my judgements... such as avoiding being happy about the outcome of a soccer game. Now I'm starting to think that's a bad thing... let them be, those feelings.

I saw somewhere that fans of a winning team actually experience a surge in testosterone. So those feelings of elation are a biochemical reality.
