Problem: I never read my mailing lists.
Some lists / communities exist only in LJ. Some exist only in email form. Some exist in PHPBB boards. Why not unify them?
Idea: Create a LJ account (or a few) which only has me as a friend, and forward all email sent to my list addresses (e.g. a-list at optimizelife.com, bluegrass-nl at optimizelife.com, eeg-neurofeedback-l@optimizelife.com) to these accounts (username+pin@post.livejournal.com) using the "post by email" feature (paid users only), so that I can read them through my customized friends lists. (of course, I never read my whole friends list)
Possible problems with the idea:
* Formatting: in LJ Post, "--" indicates end of message.
* List Privacy: my forwarder may have to edit the messages before forwarding them to make sure they are posted as friends-only in LJ, so that only I can read them.
* Having a paid account for each group of lists.
