How can I make links in my wiki default to Wikipedia when an article has not been found on my wiki?

Btw, how can I make links to wikipedia with a syntax like [[Wikipedia:Article_name]]?

whatever wikinfo does...

The subject you want to read up on is Interwiki...that pretty much spells out how to do it, you have to edit a mapping table. There's no standardized set of prefixes and domains used across wikis yet.

That functionality may not be available in MediaWiki, I believe wikinfo does what it does through some hacks. You could probably do your own hack rather simply but you'd start having problems like not being able to have any meaningful red links. (A red link would mean "not defined in my wiki but MAYBE it's in wikipedia, click to look").

Actually, it turns out the interwiki links always show up as blue, even if there's no article. Hm. Sigh, the broken infrastructure of the net...

It's probably better to be explicit in any case.

I already had a big working interwiki table (175 items) missing a "wikipedia" entry! I suppose it's not PC to link it by default to the English wikipedia, is it?

Now, the "w:Article" looks kinda ugly: I'd much rather have the link be a different style (color, font, etc.). This style hack would also help towards my highlighting & rating feature request:

Highlighting and Rating: So that the better articles stand out. One way to do this is to put an image next to each link. Ideally, the information about article quality would be in the article *itself*, so that it is accessible from each linking page.

discreet symbols like "-" are much preferable to letters like "w".
