milk & mucus: objective information, please...

I have a hypothesis: dairy products cause nose blockages (I'm breathing poorly today, after indulging in large amounts of yoghurt)

So, Google, what do you think?

Argh! why is is so hard to get objective information??

So I don't know if this is correlated at all, but when I was small and I had asthma, milk definitely made it worse and the doctor forbade my family to give me milk at night because when they did I would have an asthma attack.

If you have increased mucous production after ingesting dairy products, it's because you in particular probably have a mild dairy allergy, not that dairy products cause mucous production.

Hmm. If I don't already have some mucus production, ingesting dairy products causes no change. If I do, drinking milk or eating yogurt—but not eating cheese—seems to cause it to cling better/not drain as well, whereas drinking something more acidic (like orange juice) seems to make it let go/drain. That's how it feels, anyway.

I've heard it many times that consuming dairy products causes excess mucus. My partner has a throat probalem and when he eats yoghurt or any dairy he finds his throat clogs up. Also, apparently eating dairy causes us to smell a particular way. In the East, where less dairy is consumed, it is said that Westeners stink of milk. It seems rather strage to me to drink the secretions of a cow, which are intende for her calf. Quite gross really.
