[livejournal.com profile] r6 and I discuss his theory that entropy is subjective

I've never been satisfied with the solutions I've seen to Maxwell's Demon.
I take [livejournal.com profile] r6's interpretation of entropy as an agent-dependent quantity related to his knowledge, and a measurement of what one can do with this knowledge: knowledge is power. According to his theory, an all-knowing being (Laplace's Genius) could make the entropy according to a more ignorant agent decrease, through a demon. The point seems to be that no one can decrease his/her own entropy.

I wonder what physicists have to say about this.

Tom Mitchell is part of a Brain Image Analysis Research Group

I like the title of this one: "Learning to Decode Cognitive States from Brain Images,"

Oh, I know Rebecca Hutchinson too... small world! (I'm wondering why I said "too", since I don't know Tom Mitchell in person)

In any case, I'm looking forward to the next generation of neurofeedback machines.

I just made up this short story (about 1 page). Someone who knows his/her English etymology should be able to read most of it, except for Dutch expressions. I had a lot of choice as far as how to combine elements of each language. The grammar is English. Denglish is basically English with some words reconstructed from Dutch etymology, and occasional Dutch expressions.

Here it is:

One day Mary went to the winkle seeking an upblowable worldball.
The clerk was an unupled outlander, and Mary, having had a class in tongknowship, reknew this man's accent rightaway.

hm.... I thought I was more of a hedonist / utilitarian (that's how I chose my domain!), but this makes sense.

You scored as Justice (Fairness). Your life is guided by the concept of Fair Justice: Everyone, yourself included, should be rewarded and punished according to the help or harm they cause.

"He who does not punish evil commands it to be done."

--Leonardo da Vinci

“Though force can protect in emergency, only justice, fairness, consideration and cooperation can finally lead men to the dawn of eternal peace.”

--Dwight D. Eisenhower
