fiets veiligheid onderzoek
Aug. 27th, 2003 07:28 pmAmsterdam would be a perfect place for doing some bicycle safety research. The variables of interest are:
bike value
bike appearance
combination of locks (yes, most people use more than one lock)
location where it was left
length time it left unattended
time of the day it was left unattended
Most importantly, the combination of locks, since that is the variable under control for most bikers, except the one who are willing to change their lifestyle to affect the other variables.
But perhaps a junkie lock-beating contest is what we need. That way we would find out which locks are unbreakable (or at least take so long, be so apparent, loud or expensive so as to be impractical for the thief).
I myself like the idea of explosive locks.
