God damn it... the heat is making it hard for me to concentrate. Unfortunately, getting an A/C is not very feasible. And it's only 27C.

I just reread my total production of 3 months last summer: an 11-page paper on cognitive modeling & autism, and it sucks. (not getting any help also contributed)

...maybe the A/C is worth it.

Btw, what physiological changes do we go through when the weather gets warm? In my experience there's definitely sensory adaption going on, and also breathing patterns.

Last night I saw the biggest, brightest moon in 18 years: summer solstice coincided with a full moon. I still have to figure out the connection.

Yeah it's getting hot here too.

For me the biggest problem is not being able to sleep very well. Even if I do sleep, I just don't seem to be all that rested in the morning which affects my ability to work well.

Expected highs this week here are all around 35C. In my room at night with my little A/C going I can get it down to 25C. I'm going to have to look into ways to improve the efficiency of my A/C system I think. I might pull it apart tonight to see what sort of re-engineering can be performed.

you would think that you wouldn't have this problem up there in the mountains.

The problem is that I'm not up in the mountains. I'm just south of the Alps at something like 300 m above sea level.

I understand that the perceived 'size' of the moon is entirely a visual illusion (it has a lot to do with horizon / and/or other objects in the field surrounding it, their distance from you and contrast). Besides which, I cannot imagine a change in perceived size of the moon based upon something like the angle of incidence of sunlight, reflected off the moon, to the observer... which I think is what you were reaching for, or...? So equal time of day/night due to our latitude being at a certain angle towards the sun... distance of earth from sun wouldn't have anything to do with it... atmospheric conditions would be much more likely factors. Anyway, no need --- it's a visual illusion. :-)

I agree with you. Maybe I just had a bad source.
