being a minority
Feb. 15th, 2011 01:58 amToday I went to a Cardio Mix class with 39 women, and no other men. I have never been a minority to this extent. It was a fun, fairly hard workout, though some of the dancing steps feel a bit too girly and one move in particular clearly derives from a self-defense move to be used against men. At one point, the teacher called us "ladies" and then immediately apologized to me. *smirk*
Our teacher was a big woman (perhaps BMI=40) who seemed very competent at leading the exercises... which I think is a good thing to the extent that it breaks negative stereotypes.

At some point last semester, I ate a chocolate bar "for women". Now there's a marketing ploy if I've ever seen one.
