The great thing about randomized experiments is that they control for all variables, even the variables we haven't imagined yet, let alone observed.

It would take a truly evil genie to rig a random number generator. Is there a sci-fi novel exploring this idea, about the illusion of randomness / free will?

I've read the first half of Quarantine. Please don't spoil the rest.

In the first half, he's perfectly aware of how his brain is controlled by neural mods.
