I'm now in Nancy, been here since thursday.

I came to ESSLLI to treat it as a scientific networking event, and I've been rather successful so far.

Lectures aren't a great way of learning for me, so I've been enjoying many interactive conversations instead.

Nanceiens seem to be "gentil", polite people, who keep their distance... everybody is "vous". If I remember correctly Nice was quite different. While in Holland I hardly ever use U (formal), here I hardly ever use Tu (informal).

Since I don't actually know who reads this journal, there might well be someone within hangout distance... if so, leave a comment, especially if you have some floor space for me (I have a self-inflating mattress).

I'm closer to Freiburg and Switzerland than I had realized.

Say hi to Balder for me, if you meet him. Do you know him? (big chance) -- He's there to give some lecture or something. Not sure what exactly though :)

You're quite close to northern Switzerland, but I live down in the south just up from Milan. So looking at the map the distance from Nancy to Amsterdam is about the same as the distance from Nancy to Lugano. So you're only half way to my place ;-)

But if you do want somewhere to crash for a couple of days, head on down...

Thanks for the offer, but I got sort of tired of being on holiday, so I just got back today.... But then it only takes me a few days to get bored of Amsterdam again in the summer... unless things start happening. I guess I've been feeling restless this month.

Maybe I'll go there some other time. Let me reciprocate your offer: I have a nice soft couch for you.

Yup, he is giving a course about hybrid logics. Unfortunately the logistics of hi-saying didn't work out.
