Béla Fleck concert

Tomorrow at 8pm, Béla Fleck, Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer will perform at the Chan Centre at UBC. There are still tickets for $35.

If you don't know Béla Fleck, he's a banjo player who does bluegrass-celtic-world-jazz-fusion + the occasional Bach/Chopin/Paganini, and has Grammy nominations in more categories than any other musician in Grammy history. There's lots of good stuff on YouTube.

Seating is assigned, so if you'd like to join me, let me know soon and I can buy our seats together.

(I wish I'd heard about this earlier... I still hold out the hope that someday we will have geographically-aware alerts for stuff like this. Fingers crossed for people like Pattie Maes.)

Bela Fleck was the finest concert I went to. I don't even remember where I was, I just remember it being very informal, seating on the grass around the stage. It was probably at a zoo or biopark, given that.

I've bought his latest CD with Zakir Hussain and Edgar Meyer, who are amazing musicians as well. I really like the vibe of this album, highly recommended.
