spam wave

For the last week or so, a large wave of spam has been making it through my GMail filter. Like 5 / day, when previously it was like one a month (hard to verify, since GMail doesn't record which spam messages went to my Inbox originally).

I use several emails at optimizelife.com, and the spam I'm seeing comes from pretty much all of them. Conclusion: either the spammers have uniformly adapted the spam, or my GMail filter has become uniformly more lenient.

This probably isn't my first spam wave on GMail, but it's the most noticeable so far.

Actually, I think it does record which spam was originally marked as such, and you can find it by searching for "in:^os". That is, search for files in the magic folder ^os (originally spam?). I have no idea where I originally found this, and can't find it again, and haven't used Gmail in too long for me to be sure of results, but it looks reasonable.

Also, it makes sense that they would record it internally for spam filter evaluation, and it's not *too* surprising that it's also publicly (though obscurely) available.

i've seen this, too. it was worse a couple of weeks ago... around 5 a day. now 2-3 seem to make it through every few days.

i've also noticed that my amount of spam (that's getting spam-filtered) has skyrocketed... it was sitting at ~3000 (i don't ever delete it, so that's the amount that showed up in the past 30 days) and now it's more like 7000.
