Writing a paper with other people is often a struggle, even with version control. Your content magically disappears. You find glaring contradictions. And you have 2 minutes until the deadline!

I'd love to see a collaborative writing system based on annotating your text with weightiness. The higher the weight of a passage, the more they should consult you before deleting it.

Your co-writer's quirks, terminology, etc can become progressively more annoying. After 1 or 2 rounds of revision, decisions should be made about which terminology to use, and which terminology to avoid... and the text editor would bleep a big RED WARNING whenever someone uses the forbidden terminology (suggesting the correct term).

Applying the basic function of a neural network to your current project? I would expect more from someone at your level ;-)

Speaking of which, you might get a kick out of this article- http://www.muckflash.com/?p=200#comments

Someone would easily game that system and always give their edits a 10. Maybe the editing system would need to be smarter and score things based on length and something like whatever it was in MS Works that would give you a Grade Level type score.
