I'm sure that right now, multiple Vancouver-area retailers have white noise machines in stock. I'd love to take a bus to one of them in order to buy one. One problem: I can't find out which ones.

Right now, it's looking like I'll pay more to have one shipped from the USA (since it's not in bulk), and receive it much later.

This is wrong.

Why don't we have same-day Internet shopping? Local shopping sites (such as Craigslist) doesn't have products like "SleepMate".

I'm currently phone-shopping, and I've had to explain the concept of a "white noise machine" about 5 times. No luck yet...

Have you tried Amazon? Won't be same day, but could be close. They have warehouses in most major cities now.

You add to cart, and just as you're about to pay, they tell you this product can't be shipped internationally.

Tangentially, Google CheckOut sucks too, in a different way. After I paid, I asked when expect it here. The supplier replied that they needed more money in order to ship to Canada, even though they could clearly see I was in Canada when they accepted my order.

Wow, that sucks. Looks like amazon.ca doesn't even list it. Good luck.

OTOH, some forwarding services can ship to Canada and moreover it can be cheaper than the shipping used by the suppliers who do ship internationally.
