My move from Pittsburgh to Vancouver cost $430.80, via priority mail ($424.30 removing the insurance on the computer). This is the cheapest way there is.

All my stuff went into 6 boxes + about 5 bags of trash. There's still a pile of books and a pile of clothing that I deemed unworthy of their weight. (The average textbook cost me ~$4 to ship)

2 years ago, my move from Munich to Pittsburgh cost 68Euro per <=20kg box. I used 3 boxes, shipping about 59.80kg of stuff in total. My current boxes average about 16kg.

200Euro for 60kg = $300 for 60kg = $5 / kg
$430 for 96kg = $4.5 / kg

The current move is cheaper by weight, but only slightly.

we shipped half a ton from boston to amsterdam for 2k USD, 5 years ago.
that's about $4/kg, not that much cheaper.
