Liquor stores are optimal; they have lots of boxes that they trust for shipping expensive and fragile bottles.

Find the loading dock at the UC. Inside is a BIG hopper full of cardboard boxes that held food delivered to the cafeteria. Don't use the ones that smell bad.

Also try like the big stores at the waterfront. I know when I worked at Michael's there was always a big stack of big boxes waiting for someone to be unlazy enough to compact them.
