managing RSVPs

Can anyone recommend a site for managing RSVPs?

Facebook seems decent, but not everyone has an account there. OTOH, since it's easier for everyone to get a Facebook account, it's not clear that anything could be better.

Evite is okay, as long as you realize that it does that annoying "not putting the event date/time in the e-mail so that people have to click through to the site". this can be circumvented by putting all relevant info in the invitation e-mail, so that people can still RSVP on the site, but can refer to their e-mail for details.

The problem with it is that I would give it my friends' emails without their permission.

(OTOH, Google has all the emails I know, since I use GMail)

You coudl creat an e-vite and send it to peopel whose permission you have, and then send a link to the evite to everyone else, and then in order to RSVP they need to log on w/ their e-mail addresses
. . . but yeah I don't really see a good solution.

I like evite, except for the fact that it takes 30 minutes to load the page so I can hit 'yes'. It was great for about 6 months, but they *still* haven't fixed their load problems.

Google calendar has something, but I don't know how to use it -- I was once invited, and it worked fine for what it was.
