UMass's awful application form
Oct. 17th, 2007 02:14 amI am appalled at UMass's graduate school application form:
* it's a simple web form, with everything in one page.
* they tell you to print the recommendation form (rather than email it to the recommender)
* normally, one signs up for an ID and password at the site. Here, instead, after submitting the form, you get this:
* I didn't get a confirmation email.
I checked their site again, hoping that I'd accidentally stumbled onto a very old application form... alas, it appears to be new.
So yes, I've submitted my first application form and paid. Instead of giving them a statement of purpose, I linked to a dynamic wiki page, promising to have something there before Dec 15.

Graduate School Application
Application Transmittal Acknowledgement
Your application has been transmitted to the Graduate School at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
You should receive a letter via post with your Admissions ID and Access Code within 4 weeks after receipt of the application and application fee payment. You will then be able to follow the status of your application and the receipt of your credentials via the web. Please allow ample time for this letter to arrive and in the meantime, do not e-mail us regarding this letter as it only slows the processing of everyone's application.
