leak in the house!!!

guslToday was a particularly wet and stormy day.
Arriving home, I walked into my room to find a wet floor, and something dripping... it took me a couple of seconds to reason through what was going on, and then... "oh shit!!!"
The landlord tends to be slow about fixing things like. Usually because he doesn't know good professionals. Can anyone recommend a good leak-fixer?
My sequence of temporary fixes:
* pans on the floor
* strings to better direct the drops into the pans
* paper towels underneath the pans
* made "diapers" out of paper towels (16 layers) and stuck them onto the dripping spots.
