Hotsync weirdness

This was my path to Hotsyncing yesterday:

* remove all other USB devices and reboot

* hit Hotsync button on PDA

* system asks me to locate file palmusbd.sys, and I propose one directory up, i.e. ..

* accept to install new device

* hit hotsync again, and things work

why do I have to reinstall something every time?

Because their entire system SUCKS.
It is even worse than one would imagine. My list is too long to even take the time.

But it sounds like you need to not install again, but rather make sure you have uninstalled EVERYTHING, then start again. If windows gets confused, which it sometimes does with USB, and Specifically Palm, then you have to start again.

Yes…I have had this same problem.

This has pissed me off enough, that I want to buy a different PDA: similar to the Palm, but without this problem... preferably with a tiny keyboard on it. Any tips?

I'm using a BlackBerry now. Works "ok" but not great.

For example, you have to install a driver in order for the "standard USB" cable to charge the phone. Insane things like this.
