Do you know someone who could offer me a bed or couch for one night?

I am a non-smoking, quasi-straight-edge, apparently-non-snoring 27-year-old prospective-graduate-student. I was recently accepted into CMU's MS in Logic and Computation, and I'm visiting in the beginning of April to figure out whether I will attend next year.

If you were visiting Springfield, Missouri, I could probably arrange something meager but functional. But I don't know anyone within almost a thousand miles of Pittsburgh.

when i visited the CMU open house i stayed at one of the airport hotels. i took their free shuttle to the airport and then the 28x to campus ($2). it's a ridiculous commute but it's far and away the cheapest way to visit if you must pay.

i'd imagine that crashing on a couch in wean hall is also plausible, assuming you look like an embattled cs student and not like a crazy foreigner with a huge suitcase. showering and such might then be possible at the UC if you have a friend with a student ID.

Hostels are always a possibility, though I don't know if they exist in Pittsburgh.

I value my sleep too highly to stay in ordinary youth hostels again, unless it's off-season and they can guarantee a high probability of me getting a quiet room.

While I did this once at Bucknell, I wouldn't be comfortable doing it at an institution paying me to visit them.
