Here in Lugano, as far as I know, there are no smoke-free bars. I think the logic is: A large proportion of the population smoke and thus a smoke-free bar would go out of business. Of course that argument isn't logically valid, nevertheless I think it's the logic that people use.
Before Athens-Clarke (in Georgia, US) banned smoking in all restaurants and bars, there were a few restaurants that were already smoke free, but only one, a vegetarian restaurant called The Grit, actually advertised themselves as such that I recall.
Maybe they did a cost/benefit analysis and realized there are more smokers who care about whether smoking is allowed than non-smokers who care about it. Still, you'd think that if they did go to the trouble of banning it, they would at least advertise it otherwise both groups could get potentially pissed off.
