Redundancy
Jun. 13th, 2003 03:58 amI'm a bit of a control freak. I get easily upset when too many people are talking at the same time. But especially, I totally freak out when my I lose my Palm Pilot or my Windows installation breaks.
About a year ago I decided to always have two Palm Pilots just in case.
Now that my laptop came back from the technician, I asked him to help me back myself up, so now I have my documents mirrored onto my "old" Dell desktop. He got me VNCViewer to manage the desktop without buying a monitor for it, which is neat.
I also got a backup Windows installation, just in case one breaks. Since they are both FAT32 partitions, they can see each other and copy freely back and forth. God bless Partition Magic.
Windows in Portuguese sucks! Translations aren't always what you would expect, and often you don't understand what the heck that menu item is supposed to do. And if you thought you could change the language in the Control Panel, think again: Microsoft sells multilingual versions of Windows for 3 times the regular price (so I read, after trying to change things on my own).
