touchpad and heat

My touchpad is giving me grief. It seems to be related to heat.

To cope, I've disabled tapping (i.e. click by tapping the pad twice). I thought I'd also need to disable sudden movements, but that seems to not be necessary.

Anyway, I got a bottle of canned air, and sprayed the relevant holes. Nothing came out... Do I need to open my machine before spraying? It's an HP laptop.

A question to economists: as consumer spending decreases, would you expect telemarketing calls to go up or down?

I'm getting one per week nowadays...
