The Master of Logic degree I'm applying for requires knowledge of first-order logic including the Compactness and Completeness Theorems.

Can anyone help me understand them within a week? Assume that I have a B.S in Math degree, but no specific training in logic.

Gustavo, you don't know me but I'm sure we'd be good friends if you did ;-)

I wish you luck on acceptance, if you do get in, send me a note. We're moving from Boston to Amsterdam in a few months and we also speak Portuguese, we love a lot of the same music as you do, maybe some time we'll get together for some brews and tunes!

Too bad we didn't meet up back when I lived in Boston. If I go to Amsterdam, I'll definitely let you know.

What kind of music did you mean? My tastes are very broad.
By the way, who is "we"? You and your wife?

Yes, my wife is Portuguese and actually when we first met it was because of our common interest in Brazillian music. Before that I used to play classical guitar and jazz, but that was a while back. I've also played a little eastern traditional music here in Boston, but since our kids have been keeping us busy, we haven't been involved much in playing music.

I also knew a Brazillian kid here in Boston who plays congas but unfortunately only saw him in a percussion class I took. I also want to improve my dumbek/conga/pandeiro/tablas technique but time has been sparse and with the move I'm afraid we'll be busy until the end of summer.

We'll be in Amsterdam by July so we should plan to meet up if you'll be living there.
