backup backup backup!!! And kill Kile.

Beware of Kile's "word-wrap". It removes all your CRs, and there was no going back.

You don't want to regret this 3am, 3 hours after the last backup.

I really need a backup system to keep my 10 last saves. Can anyone suggest a script for this, that saves a backup whenever the file changes... and keeps the backups somewhat manageable?

i use cvs. you can either get in the habit of committing frequently (my approach) or write a script to check whether the file's changed every n minutes and commit it if so.

emacs!

Just hit undo (multiple times if necessary). It also keeps an automatic backup file. You can also get it to make more back ups and what ever else you want with a little lisp coding.

oh I see.
This problem with emacs is that my file is just too huge... and Kile offers a tree visualization.

Emacs can deal with crazy huge files... that shouldn't be a problem.

Goodbye to Hollywood
