As a scientist/scholar, I seem to have two distinct personalities, Hard-Nosed Skeptic and Reckless Speculator. Much of this blog consists of their arguments with each other.
Some academic blogs have a serious tone, and their authors think carefully about what they say. This blog, on the other hand, is often used as a medium in which to think aloud. Quality control is usually not my top priority here. Hence the name: "reckless intuitions". If you want to see more serious writing, check my publications.
"epistemic hygienist" is the label I found to describe (1) my strong urge to formalize arguments, (2) my reluctance to fill in the blanks in other people's ambiguous statements (something that most people seem to be quite happy to do) (3) and, of course, my concern for good methodology.
